SCHOOL ABSENCE

If your child is unwell or away from school for any reason, please telephone the school on the first day of absence and on your child’s return please send a letter confirming the reason for the absence. Schools are required by law to keep records of children’s attendance and the reason for it.

ANNUAL HOLIDAYS

Parents may request to remove their children from school for a period of two weeks for their annual holidays. Please complete a holiday form which is available from the school office. N.B. Permission is given in accordance with guidelines from Department for Education and is NOT an automatic entitlement.

ACCIDENTS - Emergency Telephone Numbers

From time to time, children are unwell whilst at school or occasionally have an accident. When this happens, we contact parents or your emergency contact to take your child home. Please make sure that you provide the school with your work telephone number or contact number. Please ensure the information is up to date.

MEDICINE

If it is necessary for your child to be given prescribed medicine during the school day, please sign a form of indemnity which is available from the school office.

If your child suffers from asthma they will be encouraged to keep their medication with them in the classroom.

SCHOOL PLAYS / CONCERTS

These are normally held in the Spring and Autumn Terms and parents are cordially invited to attend.

SPORTS

We hold a Sports Afternoon in the Summer Term, weather permitting, when children participate in a variety of activities.

SCHOOL VISITS

On occasions during the school year visits are organised for individual classes, to support the school curriculum.

CHARGING POLICIES - School activities are an important part of the learning programme and as such we regularly organise educational school excursions. As required under the Education Reform Act of 1988 the school has policies about charging for school activities and the remission of charges. The school asks for voluntary contributions for all school activities and has contingency plans for those unable to pay. Copies of these policies are available at the school and if further information is required please contact the Headteacher.
