GENERAL PHILOSOPHY
We aim, with a caring and welcoming school, to provide an environment where children can grow into confident and responsible individuals, having respect and tolerance of others. Where each individual is given the opportunity to develop their full potential, through providing a broad and balanced curriculum.
At Russell Lower School we encourage the children to respect each other and value the achievement of others.
Our school hours are:-
8.55am - 12 noon
1.15pm - 3.30pm
Children are allowed in school from 8.40am.
ORGANISATION OF SCHOOL AND CLASSES
All classes are organised according to available classroom space and year numbers.
We aim to provide an environment in which children learn best, an environment in which:
- they are active, interested, drawing on and developing their own skills
- their learning experiences are related to personal experiences
- new ideas arise out of interest which children are pursuing
- teachers initiate activities which will lead to learning
- their learning activities are developed in context, making use of real life situations and solving real problems
- their learning activities lead them through continued successes to build confidence, develop self-esteem and thereby form positive attitudes
- their learning is appreciated, understood and valued
- their learning is matched to their developmental levels and work reflects their individual needs
