SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
We are committed to providing an environment which encourages all pupils to maximise their potential and this clearly includes pupils of high ability and others that experience difficulties in learning.
Through our special educational needs policy we identify children who are experiencing significant difficulty in their learning. Children are assessed regularly in their class work and by formal testing. Children who have been identified as having a difficulty are placed on the SEN register. The needs of the children on this register are met through planned differentiated work. Increased identification and targeting enable us to better match the children's needs and to monitor their progress closely. Clear procedures are in place through the stages of the SEN register and are regularly reviewed giving an up-to-date indication of needs. The needs of very able pupils are also met through planned differentiated work. A full copy of the S.E.N. policy and procedure is available at school.
Disabled pupils are treated on equal terms with other pupils. Facilities are provided to help integrate them into the school and support is given in full by dedicated staff.
The school has sought advice of the following external agencies: Learning Support Team, Kempston Child Development Unit, Emotional and Behavioural Unit (EBD), Health Services and Educational Psychologist Service.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any concerns about your child, or if you need any more information.
