Professor David Bellamy OBE visits Russell. 27 Feb 2009
Yesterday we welcomed David Bellamy to Russell. After a tour of the school and the chance to meet some of the children, we all went into the hall where Mr Bellamy gave a lively and informative talk about the importance of trees to wildlife and the environment. Following this we all went outside and each class had the opportunity to help dig and plant tree saplings on the school field. During the process Mr Bellamy chatted and amused the children with facts about our surroundings. We planted Beech, Rowan and Ash.
The children in Kingfishers interviewed Mr Bellamy and obtained his autograph so they could write newspaper reports of Mr Bellamy’s visits in their literacy lesson.
