Helicopter Visit. 28 Apr 2009
On Tuesday afternoon there was great excitement as we eagerly awaited the arrival of the helicopter. The staff and children assembled in the playground to form the shape of a big smiley face, while the helicopter orbited to photograph the children from above. The pilot then flashed his forward facing white landing light to advise he was ready to land on the school field.
Three lucky children representing each key stage were selected to sit inside the helicopter where they had their pictures taken by a photographer from the “Times and Citizen.” The children gathered in front of the helicopter where the crewmen spoke to the whole school. Using the helicopter as a teaching tool the crewmen gave a very entertaining and educational talk about the helicopter and flying. There was a very light hearted question and answer session with the children.
The visit ended with class photos taken in front of the helicopter with the pilot. Parents and Carers will have the opportunity to purchase the aerial and class photographs.
It was a fantastic afternoon for everyone and a big thank you to the crewmen for an entertaining time.
