K'Nex Challenge 15 Jun 2009
On Monday the Year 3 children participated in the K’Nex challenge.
The K’Nex Challenge is a fun design and build construction competition open to classes of primary children of all abilities.
Pupils work in pairs to produce a specific design solution for a real-life problem such as building a bridge, carrying a load or demonstrating a mechanism. The challenge allows their imagination, creativity, and ingenuity to run wild.
There are four levels in the competition.
The K’Nexperimentor – Schools Challenge
The K’Nexplorer – Area Challenge
The K’Nextronaut – Regional Final
The K’Nexpert – National Final
The children had to design a four wheeled vehicle capable of travelling as far as possible. They started by drawing their design and then set about building a model out of K’Nex. The children came up with some interesting and versatile designs. The vehicles were placed on a ramp and released to see which would travel the furthest.
Congratulations to our winners their designs. They each received a pack of K'Nex as a prize. The teams will go on to represent the school in the K’Nex Area Challenge to be held at Cranfield where they will compete against schools from the Bedfordshire Area
