Information from Central Beds

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your support, especially over the last week-and-a-half, which has been an especially challenging period for us all.  I am delighted to say that our 4 children and one staff member continue to either be well or improving which is the most important thing.  We have really missed our isolating children and staff, but appreciate all your support in stopping a possible further outbreak.

Attached you will find a letter that CBC have asked us to send to you, as well as an updated flow chart.  This comes as CBC faces increasing cases of the new variant.  The key change is that from now on (not for our current isolating children), CBC are requesting that any 'close contacts' have a PCR test, regardless of whether they are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms.  Previously, the advice was just to isolate for 10 days and only get a PCR test if your child, or anyone in your household subsequently became symptomatic.

School will continue to 'contact trace' during half term.  If your child has a positive PCR Covid test over half-term please let school know as soon as possible by emailing office@russell-lower.co.uk If your child first developed symptoms or had a positive test within 48 hours/2days of last being in school, it would still result in us having to notify children from that bubble to isolate.  If your child becomes symptomatic or has a positive Covid PCR test after 48 hours/2 days of last being in school, this should be reported to BOTH school and NHS Test and Trace please. I very much hope that I do not have to email any of you during the school holidays with such bad news, but I am sure that you agree, stopping any further spread of cases and safety of our whole community must be our first concern.

As always, if you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you again for all your support.  Everyone has been utterly brilliant!  I really do hope that you and your family have a wonderful half term holiday.  The weather is looking quite promising at the moment too!  We look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Monday 7th June.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Nicki
