Summer 2021 1st half

After a well deserve Easter break (which we all called half term) it was back to Google Classroom teacher for the first few weeks of the second half of the Spring term. Excitement mounted as we neared the 8th of March and teachers, parents and children were all excited to hear that schools would be open once again.

The children in year 4 are a real credit to Russell as they adapted to life back in the classroom with ease. With some slight adjustment to curriculum to ensure that gaps were met the year four children were quick to get back into the flow of learning in year 4.

Year Four thoroughly enjoyed their theme this term on the Romans and produced some excellent work including amazing creative writing on a Roman Myth where they included DADWAVERS! Sentence starters to make it interesting for the reader.  The children often go off independently and find out things for themselves and share them with the rest of the class.

In Science we have been looking at Sound using our knowledge of materials to help make ear defenders. There was lots of hands on opportunities to use sound meters and children began to understand the effect of noise on humans!

PSHRE was a key subject taught on our return to school to ensure that the children were fully supported in rebuilding relationships in class and giving them the strategies to be resilient and independent. PE saw the children playing two different team games, netball and hockey which has allowed the children to learn to play competitively together in a controlled environment.

The term ended with our Easter activity morning which numerous activities. The children made chocolate cakes, Easter cards, Easter Maths and English activities and then enjoyed time outdoors completing a Easter Science themed egg hunt!

We hope you all had an eggcellent Easter break!
