Out of Africa
This half term we are continuing with our work around our theme ‘Out of Africa’. We are reading the book ‘The Hunter’ by Paul Geraghty and looking at settings and narratives.
In art and design we are studying the artist Carl Warner who creates the most amazing pieces of art, which he calls ‘foodscapes’. The children will have the opportunity to make their own ‘foodscapes’.
In Science we are continuing to learn about humans including animals; their basic needs and what their environment provides in order for them to survive.
After learning about celebrations in R.E we have moved on to look at sacred texts and why they are important to people. This is the display we have in the Key Stage Corridor showcasing all our brilliant work.
Maths is still focussed on the calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The children are becoming more fluent in these areas and this will help them when we learn about money, both coins and notes.
As you all know it really is the most wonderful time of the year and we are really excited to be able to continue a Year 2 tradition of practising and performing a Christmas play. Obviously things will be different this year but watch out for a virtual performance coming your way in December of Clement C Moore’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’.
Here are some photos of Greenfinch class.
