  • Celebrate the power of kindness. Children and young people are encouraged to learn about and practise kind acts with our range of kindness resources. They will learn the importance of being kind to others as well as themselves. It also explores resilience as kindness can help us to cope with any challenges and changes.
  • 111 – new mental health support

Callers will receive fast and responsive support from NHS mental health professionals by selecting Option 2.The mental health call handlers will complete an immediate telephone triage and then signpost people to help and support or arrange a same-day mental health assessment by NHS mental health services for children and young people or adults.

The call handlers are based at Florence Ball House in Bedford Health Village, Kimbolton Road, Bedford.The NHS 111 mental health crisis service is provided by East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) which provides mental health services across Bedfordshire and Luton.

It is supported by the Trust’s urgent mental health assessment centres at Florence Ball House and Calnwood Court on the site of Luton and Dunstable Hospital, which provide 24-hourwalk-in mental health crisis support for all ages.

The Duchess of Cambridge to lead an online assembly on mental wellbeing among children

Tomorrow, the Duchess of Cambridge will lead an online assembly for the Oak National Academy during which she will speak about the importance of mental wellbeing among children. The theme of the Duchess’ assembly is ‘spread a little kindness’ and is based on a lesson plan which is available on the Mentally Healthy Schools platform. This platform was developed in collaboration with children’s mental health charity Place2Be and encourages children to explore ways in which they can show kindness and recognise the benefits of kindness to others.

Emotional Wellbeing sessions for Parents/Carers

These are virtual information and advice session to support families, the session will provide parents and carers with ideas on how to support their children on a wide range of subjects i: e Anger, Anxiety and school transition.

The session will be split into 2 parts:

30 mins: Presentation from Chloe Lovell - CBC Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner

30 mins: Opportunity to ask questions

The event will be run as a webinar designed to give information but there will be an opportunity to ask questions using a chat function or by sending an email in advance. Once parents/carers have signed up a link to the event will be sent the morning of the session over email. This will contain all joining instructions.
